DRAWING

Drawing with Pastels
Begins February 28, 2017
Tuesdays, 10:00am - 1:00pm

Join nationally recognized, award-winning pastel artist, Jacqueline Roch, for Drawing with Pastels. The 6-week course will focus on fundamental pastel techniques and developing good compositions, concentrating on contrast, color, and proportion.

PAINTING

Acrylic & Oil Painting
Begins February 28, 2017
Tuesdays, 7:00 - 10:00pm

This 6-week course will cover the fundamentals of acrylic & oil painting. Students will learn how to paint landscapes, still-life, and portraits that express personal style. Individual instruction and demonstrations will help beginners focus on color theory, composition and form. Advanced students will work on expanding visual vocabulary and technical skills.


Watercolor
Begins March 2, 2017
Thursdays, 6:00 - 9:00pm

This 6-week watercolor course taught by instructor Will McGaul will guide students through the process of planning compositions, drawing, mixing color and creating great backgrounds.


Saturday Painting Studio
Begins March 4, 2017
Saturdays, 1:30 - 4:30pm

The Saturday Painting Studio class is designed for students that want to develop their painting style and further improve their skills. Through individual instruction, demonstrations and exercises, beginners will focus on color theory, composition, and form while advance students will work on expanding visual vocabulary. Oil and acrylic mediums are welcome.


Acrylic Painting
Begins March 9, 2017
Thursdays, 10:00am - 1:00pm

This is an ideal class for the intermediate student-artist who wants to improve their painting skills. Throughout the 6-week course, students will further explore working with acrylics and complete 4-5 paintings by the end of the course.

PRINTMAKING

Advanced Printmaking Studio
Begins February 28, 2017
Tuesdays, 11:00am - 2:00pm

In this 6-week course, students will work on advanced printmaking projects of their choice with the goal of creating a cohesive body of work. There will also be 2 group critiques that will provide valuable feedback. Students will leave the class with a portfolio of prints.


Intro to Silkscreen Printmaking
Begins March 3, 2017
Fridays, 7:00 - 10:00pm

This 6-week course taught by Lazaro Amaral will introduce students to the techniques behind reproductive silkscreen printmaking. Students will have the opportunity to transform their designs and drawings into screen prints on paper and fabric.


WORKSHOPS

Abstract Painting
Sunday, February 12 & 19, 2017
2:00 - 5:00pm

In this 2 day workshop students will get a taste of abstract painting as they learn to express themselves through line and shape. Exercises and individual guidance will be provided as students explore a variety of techniques. This course is perfect for beginners.


Coptic Bookmaking
Monday, February 13, 2017
12:00 - 5:00pm

This one day workshop will provide students with a foundation on bookbinding. Students will create their own coptic sewn book and leave the workshop with a thorough knowledge of the coptic stitch. No previous sewing knowledge required.


Monoprinting: The Painterly Print
Tuesday, February 28 & March 7, 2017
11:00am - 2:00pm

This is the perfect workshop for the painter looking to work with ink, paper, and layering. Students will learn the difference between monoprints and monotypes and leave the course with a working knowledge of monoprinting, shop etiquette, and a portfolio of new prints.


Paper Marbling Workshop
Monday, March 6, 2017
2:00 - 5:00pm

The paper marbling one day workshop will provide students with a fundamental understanding of this beautiful and therapeutic art form. Students will leave with a collection of one-of-a-kind marbled paper created during the workshop.


Plexi Glass Drypoint: Unique Lines
Tuesday, March 14 & March 21, 2017
11:00am - 2:00pm

In this 2-day workshop, students will learn how to prepare and print plexiglass drypoint plates. This technique falls into the category of intaglio printmaking. Students will leave the class with a working knowledge of shop etiquette, drypoint and printing techniques as well as a small portfolio of prints and their own original plate.


Intro to Relief Printmaking
Monday, March 20, 2017
12:00 - 5:00pm

Relief printing is a printmaking process where raised surfaces of a printing block are inked and brought into firm contact with paper. Students will leave the class with their own linoleum carving and a small edition of prints.
