Artist's Statement:
Photography is an extension of perception. Wide lenses let us see great expanses but make our noses look too big. Telephoto lenses let us see something from far away but make us ignorant of everything else. Macrophotography lets us see the world the way a small animal would. Infrared photography shows us our world in a completely new light.
Photography is not only an extension of my perception as the photographer, but for the viewer as well. A sunset I shot to show the conclusion of one day may be perceived by a critic to be a sunrise heralding another. A piece of sugar candy for one may be amethyst to another. A digital image is a set of numbers for the computer, a memory for the photographer, and a masterpiece for the aficionado. |
