Artist's Statement:
Mother Earth, Thought Woman: Mixed Media Installation
Thought Woman or Tse che nako, is the Creator God of the Navajo. According to this Native American theology She created out of Her thoughts the entire universe including the stars, the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth. She covered the Earth with the waters of the oceans, the rivers, and the lakes and also the atmosphere. Then She materialized the vegetation, animals, and human beings of all races.
Sometimes Tse che nako is visualized by the tribal people as a spider surrounded by a perfect web: the Spider Woman. Her creations are beautiful: Mother Earth possesses enchanting landscapes formed with mountains, canyons, plains, and glades. The plants and the animals are also beautiful. Planet Earthβs diverse mythologies celebrate many other manifestations of the divine feminine, and the plants and animals often serve as symbols for the female divinities.
The underlying theme for this mixed media installation is the allusion at the passage of time in space. Like the atoms within the matter, the entire body of Gaia/Mother Earth β and I subscribe to the Gaia Theory β is constantly in motion and all the plants, animals, and humans are affected by the time/space continuum. By focusing alternatively on either the expanses of space or the close-ups of beings I hope to convey the message of a presence of an evolving consciousness within the realm of Gaia/Mother Earth.
