Artist's Statement:

From 2006-2007, as one of the original Daily Painters I worked hard at disciplines that helped me pave a way toward greater insight into life as a painter. Hoping to leave behind the cramped illustration techniques I have used as a professional medical illustrator, I threw caution to the wind, and embraced a remarkable transition from realism to impressionism. As of late, touches of abstract expressionism have also emerged. Painting open air with palette knives holds a promise of lively and fresh work. I feels it's my best opportunity for both technical and spiritual growth. Still painting this way as close to daily as a busy mom's schedule will permit, I continue to discover the rewards of brave, unabashed journeys. Destinations are unknown, so grace and fulfillment always lay within the moment! I teach PLEIN AIR PALETTE KNIFE WORKSHOPS several times a year. Stylistically I am inspired by the late 19th & early 20th century work of the Pennsylvania Impressionists from New Hope PA and Lambertville, NJ area & many of today's master plein air painters who live and work out west - Camille Przewodek , Scott Christensen, Kevin MacPherson, Scott Burdick to name but a few. And of course, there's our very own Larry Moore right here in Orlando. Their work has had a profound influence on the course of my own pursuits in all my painting endeavors. And last, but never least, is John Singer Sargent whose work was the first to light up my passion to paint. Continued on next page...
