Artist's Statement:
Oil painting is a creative challenge to me which I enjoy with each painting. After years of being a fiber artist, I now use many colors applied generously with palette knives and assorted brushes to reflect my love of texture. The challenge is to bring form to a subject on the flat surface of a canvas. The manipulation of paint to capture light and depth fascinates me. I strive to push the envelope with my use of color.
Painting has taught me to see light in color and to notice the richness of hue day to day. It has been nearly a decade since I applied paint to my first canvas. I am awed by the seemingly endless styles, methods and variations in the art of oil painting. I am grateful for my work, my teachers and those who have encouraged me along the way. |
