Artist's Statement:
In my paintings I try to capture a certain time or place that has a special meaning to me. The time I choose is the early to mid 20th century. I make use of a cache of old family photos for references, to provide a window into our past. By the time I have completed a painting I feel as though I have come to understand a little about the personalities of the people and lives they lived. For me it's a magical moment in the life of someone I have either never met, or never knew in that particular stage of their life. My favorite place to visit as well as paint is anywhere in Italy. This is the place that makes my heart beat fast, and hopefully that comes through in my paintings. |
