Artist's Statement:
2010 ART SHOW Schedule: Saturday and Sunday, March 6-7 BARTOW Bloomin' Arts Show; Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28 LAKE WALES Art Show. Hope to see you at some of my shows.
I have a display at the "FORT LONESOME STORE" located at the intersection of CR674 and SR39 in Hillsborough County.
I am a fifth generation native Floridian with deep roots in the Central Florida area. I love to paint from memory and pictures what I remember as a small child riding through the woods and creeks on horseback, horse and wagon or pickup trucks with my granddad in Manatee County. He showed me the backwoods of Florida which I never dreamed I would be painting today.
I want to paint a simpler time although not an easier time but without so much asphalt and concrete and telephones. My greatest desire is to bring a sense of peace and rest to a stressed out world through the depiction of The Real Florida in my paintings. I feel so blessed to be doing what I am doing and I thoroughly enjoy it.
I have not had any formal training but have taken a few workshops from Thomas Brooks and Robert Butler and do a lot of reading and studying on my own. I give God the credit for any ability or talent I might have and it is all for His glory and honor and by His grace that I even attempt this. Barbara J. Alderman. (Bobby) |
